Trauma-Informed Legal Practice

According to the National Council for Behavioral Health, seventy (70%) percent of adults in the United States have experienced some type of traumatic event at least once in their lives.* Trauma is the leading cause of death for individuals up to the age of 45 years.** These staggering statistics demonstrate how imperative it is for lawyers and the legal system to become trauma-informed and possibly provide trauma-informed services. A trauma-informed legal practice can help lawyers:

  • Better attend to their own mental health
  • Reduce the re-traumatization of those impacted by the legal system
  • Recognize the role trauma can play in the lawyer-client relationship
  • Provide lawyers with opportunities to increase connections with their clients and improve advocacy

This CLE is for practitioners who are interested in understanding how trauma impacts lawyers and the clients they serve.

Registration includes lunch and free parking for the first 50 registrants.
